The AT ‘principles’ are the foundation of our work – the thing that sets our discipline apart. Yet putting that understanding into words, clearly and in your own voice, isn’t always easy.
This course gives you the chance to explore your own understanding of the AT principles and find the language to explain them clearly. There are no ‘dos’ or ‘don’ts’ here – just exploration and discussion, leading to a genuine understanding and extra self-confidence.
By the end, you’ll feel fully equipped to articulate and demonstrate your own perception of the principles – clearly, confidently and in a way that’s authentically yours.
5 weeks exploring with others.
This is an opportunity for you to:
- Shine a spotlight on the AT principles and come away with inspiring new insights, fresh new concepts and new enthusiasm.
- Explore your own ideas and exchange new perspectives with others.
- Find new ways of communicating the principles, in your own voice, to teach and inspire others.
- Build your self-confidence when presenting AT material.
By the end of the course you will have:
- INVESTIGATED the principles in depth, from new thought-provoking perspectives.
- IDENTIFIED new ways of presenting the subject matter – whether in groups, one-to-one, online or in the studio.
- COMMUNICATED each principle clearly, and articulated its relevance within your own teaching and learning situation.
The classes will be interactive. Everyone will be invited to contribute to whole group and smaller group discussions and assignments. There will be reflection, questions, study, lots of inspiring thinking – and fun!
A workbook is supplied to keep your ideas and notes in one place.
How this course came about:
During lockdown, I re-read all four of Alexander’s books alongside several others and gained many new insights and perspectives into the core principles underlying the work. I felt as if I had polished up, broadened and deepened my knowledge. It has informed my teaching in many new ways since then.
Seeing with new eyes is both challenging and stimulating and I hope to provide a platform for you to dig deep, explore and formulate your own new ideas and language. I hope it will excite and inspire you in going forward with your work.
